LCI is going to Detroit’s Eastern Market, the largest historic public market district in the United States. Eastern Market has fruits, vegetables, breads, baked goods, jellies, jams, honey, apple cider, cheeses, spices, herbs, plants and flowers from over 250 different farmers and vendors . The market opened in 1891, and up to 40,000 people visit the market every Saturday. We will buy fresh fruit from farmers, and we can also get cheese and bread from a special cheese store. We will then go to the Detroit River and have a picnic in a park along the river. We will also go for a walk along the river and see some of the pretty sites along the way.
Who: Students, former students, teachers, friends, family, children, etc. are all welcome.
When: Saturday, July 31 from 10 AM to around 5 PM.
Where: We will meet at LCI at 10 AM. We will leave LCI at 10:15 AM, and WE WILL NOT WAIT FOR LATE PEOPLE! If you don’t have a ride, you should find a friend who can drive you. Late people can join us at the market or at Milliken State Park (I will have my cell phone with me).
How much money is it?
FREE! Just pack a lunch or bring a few dollars to buy some food at the market.
If you are interested in coming, please write your name on the signup sheet in the kitchen area. It is not necessary to sign up, but this will help me have a general idea of how many people are coming. Also, I would appreciate it if you would write down your cell phone number (or you can tell it to me) so that I can call you if we get separated.
IF IT IS RAINING ON THE DAY OF THE TRIP, PLEASE CALL SCOTT ON HIS CELL PHONE (SEE BELOW) TO SEE IF WE WILL NEED TO PICK A DIFFERENT DAY.
If you have any questions, you can call Scott on his cell phone at 248-376-5426.
